U-Report Zambia: Free Mental Health Chatbot
15 May 2025 - Everyone feels stressed, sad, or overwhelmed sometimes. It’s okay to talk about it. That’s why U-Report Zambia has launched a new Mental Health Chatbot — a simple, free way to get support when you need it.
The chatbot went live on World Mental Health Action Day, 15 May 2025. It’s made to help young people across Zambia talk about mental health, learn how to manage stress, build better relationships, and get facts about substance use. You can use it on your phone through SMS or WhatsApp.
Why This Matters
More and more young people are dealing with mental health challenges. In Zambia, the number of teens treated for depression grew from 704 in 2022 to 858 in 2024. That’s why it’s important to have easy-to-use, private tools like this one.
What the Chatbot Can Do
This chatbot is part of UNICEF’s #OnMyMind campaign. It’s here to help:
- Break the silence around mental health
- Give support when you or someone you know needs help
You can learn about:
- Talking openly about mental health

- Dealing with stigma
- Managing stress
- Handling emotions
There’s also a new topic about substance use. It’s written in a kind, respectful way and helps you make informed choices.
How to Use It
Using the chatbot is free and easy, no matter where you are in Zambia.
